Regulations on being a Specialist in Primary Care
There are no exams, essential qualifications or mandatory courses to be a GP with a special interest in diagnosing and treating ADHD. GPs traditionally have a multitude of additional roles. The GMC and the defence unions accept that . IN addtional NICE specifies that mental health trusts should provide training to enable primary care staff to diagnose and treat ADHD in adults. The GMC specifies that individual doctors must work within their professional competence. This means that must undertake satisfactory training and be appraised on all their roles.
